Hi, I’m Cassidy

With over seven years of design experience—including the last three in weather tech—I specialize in transforming ideas into intuitive, user-centered digital products. I thrive in agile environments, collaborating across disciplines, and enjoy empathy-driven work that helps me understand and solve real user needs.

I’ve lived abroad in India and Chile, traveled to 30+ countries, and previously taught Spanish and art (MAT), bringing a global, human-centered perspective to every project. Outside of work, I’m a childless cat lady who loves camping, exploring the outdoors, meeting new people, and experimenting with recipes.

My Design Practice

My design practice centers on empathy-driven creation - understanding the why behind users’ needs to inform the how of the solution. As a third-generation visual artist, I bring a deep foundation in visual storytelling and attention to detail to every project. Over the past several years in weather tech, I’ve worked closely with meteorologists, turning complex, real-time weather data into intuitive, actionable dashboards and interfaces. I collaborate extensively with developers, contribute to successful product launches, and work directly with B2B customers through interviews and surveys, using their feedback to guide iterative, human-centered design solutions.

My 2025 Goals

I’m a driven, goal-oriented person who believes that when you shoot for the stars, you land on the moon.

Setting ambitious goals keeps me focused, motivated, and accountable. Here are some highlights from this year:

Travel:

✅ Japan: Tokyo, Takayama, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima Island, Nara, Uji, Osaka

✅ Take short trips to explore nature, including hiking Mt. Baldy

Design & Passion Projects:

✅ Created 50 curriculum-oriented songs for a Spanish-learning app, drawing on my experience as a language educator

✅ Deployed my first React app using Vibe code to showcase this content

✅ Continued leveling up Figma skills with auto-layout, components, and variables

⬜ Create complementary content for teachers to leverage when using the songs

Cuisine & Creativity:

✅ Integrated learning new cooking techniques at home through weekly YouTube tutorials and hands-on experimentation

✅ Drew weekly and explored Japanese calligraphy

Community & Collaboration:

✅ Volunteered at hackathons to mentor students at Glendale Community College

✅ Started a local Long Beach meetup to work remotely together on Fridays with friends and other remote tech professionals

Self-Improvement:

✅ Deepened financial literacy and investing knowledge through online courses

✅ Listened to monthly books through audible and book summaries through Blinkist

⬜ Ran another half marathon 😅

My Graphic Art Books

I have written, illustrated, and published three graphic art books. One is an educational art history graphic book, another a humorous adult coloring book, and the third, Passport Puppy, follows a dog traveling through Spanish-speaking countries, learning about each culture along the way - a story inspired by my own travels. My work has been featured on the Seattle-Tacoma Evening News, and all of my illustrated books are available online.
